Todd Logan, Playwright, Producer

“Whether we like it or not, we still have major divides in this country. Most of us still go to bed at night in cities, communities and neighborhoods that are segregated by race, religion, ethnicity and/or class.

I wanted to write a play that encourages greater tolerance and understanding by spurring self-examination and promoting compelling civil discourse.

Making the audience the jury and then inviting the ‘jury’ for a post-show discussion provides a forum to begin that process.”
– Todd Logan

Kimm Beavers, Managing Producer

“I believe one of the most challenging things we can do is, to be honest with ourselves about ourselves. Engaging in candid conversations with others about difficult topics like race, class, religion, and gender, which we all know can be very “hot button” issues takes bravery and commitment to the desire for understanding and change.”

Kimm Beavers is the managing producer of Canamac Productions and The Defamation Experience, overseeing all daily operations and management. She has toured with Canamac Productions’ DEFAMATION since 2011 and facilitated more than 250 of the 550 programs presented. From her artistry onstage to managing tours and producing, she brings integrity to her roles at Canamac Productions.

Kimm has worked in theater and television on numerous projects including Immediate Family at The Goodman Theater directed by Phylicia Rashad and the world premiere of Ralph Ellison’s Invisible Man at Court Theater as well as The Trip at ETA Theater (BTA award, Best Ensemble). Film Credits include Lost Ones, Molly’s Gift, Love Shorts, & Til Death Do Us Part. Kimm received her B.A. in Speech and Theater Arts at Clark Atlanta University. Always excited to share the stage with great performers, Kimm believes the best way to grow is to “surround yourself with people you can learn from and evolve with.”
